Erica's Baby Shower

Last Thursday, the members of Daisy Girl Scout Troop #10 transformed their regular meeting into a baby extravaganza in honor of our mama-to-be, Erica. We've been planning for a while and were afraid she'd found us out after I accidentally left an invitation on the kitchen table at the Investiture Ceremony! But in the end she was truly surprised!

We had presents and games and prizes and food and scrapbooking. We had a wonderful time and were so happy to happy to celebrate the upcoming birth of Erica's twins with her. We can't wait to hold the babies and wish them and their parents the best.

Another 30-Something Celebration

No...I didn't give up already! My week absence from blogging was due to illness, courtesy of my baby sister. Great birthday present, don't ya think! Since last weekend I have been feeling like death warmed over.

Anyway, last weekend was my 32nd birthday. The celebrations lasted all weekend. Friday night, we had dinner at my Mom's. Mom and Dan, Kristen and the kids, Katie, Geoff and I had a great time. Mom makes fantastic meatballs and gravy! Of course, Mom makes fantastic everything! :)

Saturday morning I watched Ryan and Ethan for the first time by myself. Whew! 3 1/2 years and 9 months. A challenge for sure! After a rocky start at Cracker Barrell, we had a great time. We went to the park and took some really cute pictures. I also got a good video of Ethan on the swings that I've attached.

Saturday night was Geoff's turn. He planned to take me out to dinner at the Melting Pot and then we were going to try to attend the Owl Prowl at the Jacksonville Arboretum. But I was so exhausted from playing with the kids (and now looking back, probably attempting to fend off this lovely plague) that we decided to postpone the Melting Pot and stay local instead. Geoff was such a good sport about me spoiling our plans and invited Steve and Katie to join us for dinner at the Palm Coast Outback. I was completely gluttonous, opting for no dinner, but only cheese fries, a couple wallabe darneds, and a sinful sundae! :D What a fantastic birthday dinner! But glutony comes at a price and I was so sick that I fell asleep as soon as we got home and poor Geoff spent the rest of the evening taking care of me!

Sunday ended the weekend with a bang. We met for lunch with Kristen and the kids, Dad, Terri, Sara, and Randy, and Steve. We grilled out at Dad's house and enjoyed the good company and beautiful day. By the end of the day though, the bug I caught from Katie was taking full charge of my body and I've been feeling like garbage since. I guess the old body can't fight the germies like it use to! lol It's hell to get old.

Thanks to everyone that helped make my 32nd birthday a happy occassion!

Daisy Troop 10

Last weekend was our troop's Investiture/Rededication Ceremony. I am so proud of the girls. They did an amazing job! We have 11 kindergarten and 1st grade girls, but only nine girls attended the ceremony. You won't believe it, but they planned the whole thing! Of course, the adults helped! But we just helped them make sure they covered all their bases. They chose the opening, designed and decorated a program for each guest, chose and practiced songs to sing during the ceremony (including a brand new one that they helped each other learn during the day), and divided up the patches and petals they had earned so that each girl could explain one to the guests during the ceremony. They decided by voting that they would serve cake for refreshments and even went to the store to get the ingredients and mixed it themselves. They even created the new banner above! Isn't it nice?

We have a lot to do before our next ceremony, when we get to bridge up to Brownies! We are in the process of selling Girl Scout cookies. We are attending a Thinking Day event, going on a tour of a Fire Station and learning about respecting authority, going to San Agustin, and going to the inaugural Earth Day Festival at the newest GS camp! So keep a look out for more Girl Scout posts coming soon.

My Very First Post

Thanks to my sister for insighting this madness. I survived 31 years without "blogging". Now on the eve of my 32nd birthday, I'm going to give it a try.

Today is my baby's 4th birthday. It's hard to believe Bitsy use to be so small and cute. Well, she's still cute, but not so small. :) And thankfully she's turned into a lazy girl, just like her mom. My little snuggle baby!

My first baby, Daisy, turned 4 on January 18th. We've been together since she was 6 weeks old. Man, those first couple weeks were rough! I wasn't sure if we would both survive. And to be honest, I wasn't sure which one of us would survive! lol Fortunately, we are both stubborn. Daisy is, and will always be, her mama's girl.

Four years with my angels have flewn by, but I look forward to lots more...lots more walks, lots more snuggling, and lots more companionship. Although they weren't born in the same liter or even to the same mother, these two little girls are the closest sisters possible...simply inseparable. I wouldn't have it any other way.
